Backend Senior and Staff Engineers (AI)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, CA or New York, NY

Salary: $100,000–$300,000 annually, with possible variable compensation, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and implement backend and integration platform subsystems supporting autonomous AI workers.
• Translate business goals, product strategies, and customer requirements into backend and integration solutions.
• Adapt systems to new design-partner requirements and non-functional needs such as compliance, security, and enterprise integration.
• Design and build scalable infrastructure for future growth in headcount, customers, and data.
• Contribute to reliability, security, disaster recovery, engineering excellence, and operational excellence.
• Support onboarding and development of future engineers and help improve the hiring process.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience as a hands-on engineer and technical leader.
• Expertise architecting, developing, and scaling stateless and stateful backend systems for enterprise applications.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and serverless architectures.
• Strong knowledge of Python, Go, or similar backend programming languages, including concurrency, memory management, and performance optimization.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful and/or gRPC APIs integrating with frontend systems, data platforms, and third-party services.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and multi-cloud environments including AWS, GCP, and Azure.
