Teleoperations Leads

Location: On-site in Palo Alto, United States; flexibility across shifts, including occasional nights and weekends. Travel up to approximately 20%, including day trips and multi-week offsite collection stays.

What you will do

• Pilot robots through household manipulation, commercial workflows, dexterous tasks, and recovery maneuvers.
• Define and maintain SOPs for recurring tasks, robot bring-up and shutdown, safety checks, and data collection.
• Onboard, shadow, certify, and calibrate operators across different task classes.
• Review collected episodes, identify unusable data, and partner with AI specialists to improve training data quality.
• Plan daily collection, coordinate shifts, maintain equipment readiness and robot uptime, and handle safety incidents.
• Track and improve cycle time, take success rate, usable-data output, and operator ramp time.

Requirements

• 3–6 years of hands-on operational experience involving physical skill, repeatability, and judgment, such as robotics teleoperation, motion capture, simulation/VR, surgical robotics, drone operations, advanced manufacturing, stunt work, or professional gaming coaching.
• Experience writing SOPs, training materials, or operator certifications used by other people.
• Experience training or mentoring peers and teaching physical skills.
• Excellent physical coordination, spatial awareness, stamina, and ability to learn and explain new physical tasks quickly.
• Strong written communication and comfort giving and receiving direct feedback.
• Ability to work on-site in Palo Alto with flexible shifts, including occasional nights and weekends.

Nice to have

• Experience with humanoid or mobile-manipulation robots, VR/AR teleoperation rigs, or motion-capture stages.
• Familiarity with ML data-collection pipelines and distinguishing usable demonstrations from noise.
• Light scripting or tooling experience with Python or basic shell for logging, tagging, or QA workflows.
• Background in athletic coaching, physical therapy, martial arts instruction, or another motor-skill teaching field.
• Experience running shifts or coordinating small teams in regulated or safety-sensitive environments.
