Teleoperation Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States; option to work from home when needed

Base salary: USD $60,000–90,000 per year

What you will do

• Operate robotic systems directly through VR, joystick, and other control interfaces.
• Train and onboard teleoperation operators and establish standards for task execution, data quality, and reporting.
• Monitor operator performance and demonstration data quality, investigate issues, and maintain QA processes.
• Create and maintain SOPs, training materials, operational trackers, reporting routines, and documentation.
• Bridge operations and engineering teams by translating operator feedback into actionable technical input and engineering guidance into practical instructions.
• Identify operator errors, edge cases, and system inconsistencies and support improvements to data collection pipelines and interfaces.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of professional experience in training, QA, or a technical environment.
• Completed or in-progress technical degree, preferably in engineering, computer science, data science, or a related field.
• Experience in a structured, process-oriented, or fast-paced operational setting.
• Strong communication and documentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to assess quality rigorously, coach others toward consistency, and work with digital tools and data-driven workflows.
• Basic technical understanding sufficient to collaborate with engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with teleoperation systems, simulation environments, or robotics platforms.
• Familiarity with imitation learning and demonstration data for robot policy training.
• Competitive gaming, esports, precision controller-based tasks, or strong spatial awareness.
• Experience with data annotation, quality assurance, structured data collection pipelines, VR systems, or immersive digital environments.
