R&D Engineering Technician (Robotics)

What you will do

• Assemble, wire, bring up, and test robotic systems and subsystems, including actuation and perception hardware.
• Execute engineering test plans, collect and organize test data, and document build results.
• Build, maintain, and improve test fixtures, jigs, lab equipment, tools, and inventory.
• Use oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers to triage and debug issues under engineering direction.
• Support cross-disciplinary troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software systems.
• Support robot deployments, repairs, prototyping, assembly improvements, and QA process improvements.

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands-on experience building and testing robots or complex electromechanical systems.
• Ability to read schematics, mechanical drawings, bills of materials, and work instructions.
• Experience with soldering, crimping, hand tools, and basic mechanical and electrical fabrication.
• Familiarity with oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
• Strong record keeping, clear documentation skills, and comfort working in a fast-moving prototype environment.
• Ability to work on-site in Redwood City, California.

Nice to have

• Exposure to CAN, Ethernet, USB, or MIPI protocols.
• Hands-on experience with actuators, cameras, or microcontrollers.
• Soldering and rework experience to IPC standards.
• Experience with agentic coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex.
• Prior experience in a robotics startup.
