Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote; role may require 15–20% travel

Salary: $210,000–$260,000 a year, plus stock options, benefits, and additional perks

What you will do

• Lead a small engineering team through mentorship, code review, task planning, and architectural guidance.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to shape roadmap priorities and translate customer needs into scalable solutions.
• Architect and build complex full-stack features with React, TypeScript, Python, Django, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.
• Own technical delivery from design through deployment, including performance, reliability, monitoring, testing, and code quality.
• Improve the codebase, development workflow, tooling, and team processes.
• Partner with engineering leadership to scale systems, reduce complexity, and build intuitive and reliable products.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial full-stack development.
• Experience leading engineering teams or pods and making technical decisions.
• Strong frontend experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
• Significant backend experience with Python/Django and Node.js with TypeScript, including scalable APIs and services.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containerized deployments, PostgreSQL, event-driven architecture, and Kafka.
• Strong understanding of software design, testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and pragmatic technical decision-making.
