What you will do

• Build, operate, and maintain trapped-ion systems using free-space optics and integrated photonics.
• Design experiments, collect and analyze data, and present results to scientific and engineering stakeholders.
• Help build an ion-trapping laboratory from the ground up.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and fabrication experts to validate integrated photonic and trapped-ion technologies.
• Review scientific literature and improve experimental workflows.
• Travel approximately 10% depending on business needs.

Requirements

• Ph.D. completed before starting the position.
• At least 5 years of experience with trapped-ion systems, including Ph.D. experience.
• At least 3 years of experience programming control systems for data collection and analysis, including Ph.D. experience.
• Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or worker granted asylum or refugee status.
• Due to national security requirements, People's Republic of China and Russian nationals must also be U.S. citizens.

Nice to have

• Ph.D. in physics or a related field.
• Experience with quantum computing hardware, cryogenic systems, ultra-high vacuum systems, and integrated photonic devices.
• Scientific communication, technical writing, organization, and collaboration skills.
• Peer-reviewed publications related to trapped-ion systems for quantum information science.
