Simulation Physicist (Quantum)

Location: Onsite in Boulder, Colorado, United States

Base salary: $110,336–$144,459 per year, plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Create, update, and maintain numerical simulation tools for ion transport in RF Paul traps.
• Validate simulation results and physics understanding with experimental teams.
• Develop control schemes for fast, robust, and low-excitation ion transport.
• Deliver control-voltage waveforms for trapped-ion quantum computers.
• Collaborate with commercial teams on transport waveforms and with quantum architects on next-generation ion traps.

Requirements

• PhD in atomic physics, quantum information, or a related field.
• Experience with numerical simulation and optimization for experimental design.
• Strong programming and data-analysis skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Boulder, Colorado.
• Technical roles may require U.S. Person status, an export-control license, or an applicable license exception because of U.S. export-control and government-contract restrictions.

Nice to have

• Experience with transport or waveform design in surface-electrode RF Paul traps.
• Experience with a compiled language such as Rust, C, or C++ for scientific computing.
