Experimental Physicist (Quantum Computing)

What you will do

• Design and execute remote-entanglement experiments for trapped-ion devices integrated with micro-cavity technology.
• Benchmark and improve ion–photon interface efficiency and the fidelity of remote entanglement between trapped-ion nodes.
• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot laser setups, RF/DC electronics, control systems, and ultra-high-vacuum laboratory hardware.
• Collaborate with software, optical, mechanical, and electrical engineers, as well as theory and simulation teams, to deliver integrated experimental systems.
• Mentor AMO physicists and provide technical direction as the team grows.
• Improve experimental design, automation, scalability, documentation, safety, and system reliability.

Requirements

• Experience providing technical leadership on complex multidisciplinary projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience managing research grants or leading multidisciplinary projects in industry.
• Scientific communication experience through papers, talks, or conferences.
• Experimental AMO physics experience, preferably in ion trapping or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience with optical-field qubit control, gate optimization, benchmarking, atomic physics, and atom–phonon interactions.
• Expertise in at least two of sub-kHz laser locking, system automation, and real-time control such as ARTIQ.

Nice to have

• Specific ion-trapping experience within experimental AMO physics.
