Stamping Process Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Santa Clara, CA, United States. Travel of up to 50% is required during build and buy-off events.

What you will do

• Develop high-quality stamping dies and processes that meet production, part quality, and cost targets.
• Support vehicle engineers with part and assembly design-for-manufacturing studies.
• Direct tool and equipment design, build, trials, tuning, and buy-off for in-house stamping operations.
• Manage project planning, technical specifications, supplier performance, progress reporting, and issue resolution.
• Resolve complex part formability and quality issues using die compensation and data-focused troubleshooting.
• Establish tooling design and quality standards and provide direction to technicians and stamping plant personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in die design, manufacturing, and tuning.
• Hands-on experience buying off dies for construction quality and part accuracy.
• Experience managing international tool and die suppliers and creating die operation layouts.
• Experience with dimensional verification for body-in-white components and knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical control systems.
• Completion of GD&T training by a certified instructor within the last eight years; proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Nice to have

• Experience working with die suppliers in China or Asia.
• Experience with sheet-metal formability simulation software.
• Experience applying statistical analysis to improve product quality or production results.
• Bilingual English and Mandarin communication skills.
