Senior Mechanical Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Onsite five days a week at the Santa Clara, California headquarters

Salary: $170,000–$220,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead mechanical design and analysis from initial concepts through drawing release.
• Own mechanical subsystems and complex assemblies for autonomous vehicles.
• Perform finite element analyses, component calculations, tolerance stack-ups, and GD&T definition.
• Drive design for manufacturing, assembly, and service, including cooling solutions for sensors and electronics.
• Collaborate with validation, procurement, and manufacturing teams on test plans, BOMs, prototypes, and production processes.
• Build prototype vehicles and develop mechanical engineering standards and processes while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience designing and analyzing complex mechanical structures and integrating hardware.
• Mechanical, Mechatronics, or equivalent engineering degree.
• Successful delivery of multiple parts, subsystems, or systems into production, preferably in automotive or transportation.
• Strong 3D CAD and 2D drafting skills using ASME Y14.5; NX experience is preferred.
• Experience with FE analysis, PDM/PLM processes, ECOs, BOMs, aluminum and steel designs, sheet metal, welded, extruded, and machined parts.
• Working knowledge of ISO 26262, component selection, tolerance stacking, and hands-on fabrication with engineering tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with heat sinks, heat exchangers, thermal design, or CFD.
• Experience integrating lidar, radar, camera, or GNSS sensors and developing sensor cleaning or protection solutions.
• Knowledge of Python, Go, Perl, optics, harness routing, connectors, and high-data-rate cables.
