Manufacturing Development Engineer

Location: On-site in Los Angeles, California; facility based in Hawthorne

Salary: $90,000–$130,000 per year, plus stock options

What you will do

• Design and implement scalable manufacturing processes for new hardware and printed parts.
• Design, build, and iterate on tooling, jigs, and fixtures for reliable, high-throughput production.
• Develop test procedures and post-processing steps to improve factory part flow.
• Create lightweight documentation and process standards that support production scaling.
• Identify bottlenecks in the movement of parts, materials, and data and improve them with cross-functional teams.
• Transition new processes and tooling from R&D into production in partnership with the production team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or a related engineering field.
• Internship or professional experience in manufacturing, development engineering, or build engineering.
• Hands-on experience with hand tools, machinery, or complex hardware assembly.
• Ability to work on-site at the Hawthorne facility.

Nice to have

• 2+ years of hands-on manufacturing or production engineering experience.
• Manufacturing process development experience in a fast-paced hardware environment.
• Understanding of GD&T and technical drawings.
• Experience with metal additive manufacturing, precision post-processing, fixturing, DFM, or process validation.
• Familiarity with MRP/ERP tools and production tracking systems.
