TL;DR
Sr. Process Engineer - Tooling Design and Procurement (Casting Tooling): Designing and industrializing tooling for high-volume production of propulsion components across ICE and EV programs with an accent on casting tools, fixtures, coreboxes, CAD design, and supplier coordination. Focus on translating product and manufacturing requirements into safe, manufacturable designs, supporting tooling validation and launch, and improving performance, quality, standardization, and cost.
Location: Onsite in Saginaw or Warren, Michigan, United States. Full-time onsite presence is required, with travel of at least 50% to support tooling builds and startup. The role may be eligible for relocation benefits.

What you will do
- Develop tooling concepts, 3D models, and detailed drawings for casting tools, fixtures, coreboxes, and related equipment.
- Create and maintain electronic math data for casting product and process development.
- Translate product requirements, GD&T, and manufacturing requirements into safe, high-quality, manufacturable tooling designs.
- Collaborate with product engineering, manufacturing engineering, plant teams, and suppliers from concept through launch and production support.
- Lead tooling reviews, feasibility assessments, design changes, issue resolution, supplier coordination, validation, tryouts, installations, and launch readiness.
- Improve tooling performance, standardization, quality, and cost while maintaining documentation, revision control, and deliverable releases.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
- Three to five years of experience in tooling design, casting engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related automotive or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with CAD and design tools such as NX, Teamcenter, AutoCAD, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerance application, analytical problem-solving, root-cause investigation, and communication.
- Ability to manage multiple timing-sensitive assignments and collaborate with global, cross-functional, plant, and supplier teams.
- Must be able to work onsite in the United States and must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future. Legal ability to operate a motor vehicle regularly is required.
Nice to have
- Experience with cast tooling standards, corebox design, fixture design, machining, or process-interface requirements.
- Experience working with suppliers, plant operations, and launch teams.
- Familiarity with PFMEA, quality systems, lean principles, workplace safety systems, and manufacturing requirements reviews.
- Knowledge of casting processes, automotive manufacturing, product launches, and propulsion component development.
