Sr Mechanical Design Engineer, Airbag Systems

What you will do

• Develop and release vehicle interior components and subsystems into production.
• Collaborate with attribute leads, cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams, engineering partners, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
• Support component source selection and specification with the Global Supply Chain team and suppliers.
• Use CATIA V5/V6 and direct CAD design personnel on component packaging, integration, and detailing.
• Execute quality and robustness activities, including DFMEA and DVP&R.
• Support prototype and production builds, ensuring fit and function and resolving engineering issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of automotive engineering experience designing and releasing interior systems such as instrument panels, moldings, seating, or interior lighting.
• Experience with CAD design tools and processes.
• Experience overseeing production drawing releases.
• Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, creative-thinking, and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to work autonomously while maintaining communication with relevant stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience working with industrial design on concept feasibility.
• Track record of delivering products from concept through launch.
• Experience working with rapid development cycles and experimental hardware.
