What you will do

• Lead design release responsibility for 12V component shields and related mechanical hardware.
• Develop component requirements, design concepts, packaging studies, engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, and change documentation.
• Integrate shields into the vehicle architecture by managing clearances, attachment strategies, interfaces, sealing, thermal protection, durability, and serviceability.
• Coordinate with electrical, systems, packaging, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, vehicle integration, and supplier teams.
• Support CAD reviews, tolerance studies, DFMEA, DVP&R, validation planning, prototype builds, and production launches.
• Drive technical issue resolution, root-cause investigations, corrective actions, and program deliverables related to cost, quality, timing, and performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience in mechanical design, packaging, or design release engineering for automotive components.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, assembly methods, and automotive packaging integration.
• Experience with shielding, brackets, housings, packaging interfaces, or similar 12V automotive components.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T, and to use CAD tools for component design and package reviews.
• Must be authorized to work without current or future GM immigration sponsorship; relocation benefits are not provided.

Nice to have

• Experience packaging generators, inverters, converters, battery vent tubes, jump start hardware, or similar electrical power components.
• Experience with under-hood packaging, shield mounting, structural supports, vent routing, thermal protection, and serviceability.
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
