Senior/Staff Embedded Software Engineer, Robotics Platform

Location: Milpitas, California, United States; 5 days per week in-office

Salary: $160,000–$265,000 per year, plus bonus and equity

What you will do

• Architect, develop, and deploy foundational robotics platform software supporting perception, planning, control, and fleet services.
• Analyze system performance and debug hardware and software across Linux-based platforms.
• Build and maintain deployment, telemetry, monitoring, DDS, operating system, and hypervisor integrations.
• Plan the technical roadmap, guide architectural decisions, and mentor engineers across the robotics platform.
• Conduct code reviews and uphold standards for software quality, testability, robustness, and maintainability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or equivalent relevant experience.
• 5+ years of experience building and shipping production-quality software, especially for Linux-based systems.
• Strong proficiency in modern C++ and Python for performance-critical and systems-level software.
• Experience with large, complex systems and tooling for development, deployment, and observability.
• Demonstrated focus on testability, robustness, software quality, and long-term maintainability.
• Availability for 5 days per week of in-office collaboration in Milpitas, California.

Nice to have

• Experience with ROS-based robotics development.
• Linux kernel and module development experience.
• In-depth experience configuring, optimizing, or implementing DDS.
