Senior Software Engineer, Motion Planning (C++)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States; hybrid workplace

Salary: $150,000–$190,000 per year, excluding equity; exact compensation varies by skills and experience.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and deploy motion planning software for autonomous trucks.
• Develop lateral and longitudinal motion planning algorithms.
• Use C++ numerical optimization frameworks, including qpOasys, to integrate algorithms into production systems.
• Perform system-level diagnostics and tuning with internal and open-source visualization tools such as webviz.
• Collaborate with engineers on system designs before implementation.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Robotics, Robotic Systems Development, or a related field.
• Production software development experience in C++.
• Applied robotics experience in robotics, motion planning, computer vision, or machine learning.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Python experience.
• PhD with 1–2 years of experience or MS with 3–4 years of experience.
• Experience with Git, ROS, and visualization tools.
