Senior Developer Experience Advocate

Location: Fully remote, based in the United States

Salary: $142,050–$177,562.50 USD annually, with additional zone-specific ranges provided.

Fivetran and dbt Labs are combining data movement and analytics engineering products to help organizations build trusted data infrastructure for analytics, AI, and business decisions.

What you will do

• Design and build prototypes, reference implementations, example repositories, and tooling for dbt and Fivetran workflows.
• Create technical content for developer blogs, guides, and documentation.
• Develop enablement resources and contribute as a subject matter expert to product launches.
• Represent the product area across Community Slack, GitHub, conferences, and public forums.
• Collect community feedback and translate practitioner needs into product and engineering insights.
• Maintain and triage open-source repositories, contribute code, and participate in design reviews.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a closely related field.
• Hands-on dbt knowledge and strong data and analytics engineering fundamentals.
• Expert spoken and written technical communication, including published public-facing content.
• Strong Python and SQL skills with the ability to contribute to open-source codebases.
• Comfort with AI and enthusiasm for adapting AI to development workflows.
• Ability to work autonomously, set priorities, communicate clearly, and deliver with minimal direction.

Nice to have

• Existing participation in the dbt Community or experience with dbt tools.
• Background in developer relations, developer experience, or developer advocacy at a developer tools company.
• Experience building with AI coding agents and knowledge of the AI agent ecosystem.
• Open-source contributions in the data ecosystem.
• Public speaking experience and familiarity with Fusion and the dbt platform.
