TL;DR

What you will do

  • Design, analyze, develop, integrate, and maintain electrical and instrumentation systems for test operations.
  • Select, integrate, validate, calibrate, install, wire, and troubleshoot sensors and data acquisition systems.
  • Perform signal conditioning, including excitation, amplification, filtering, isolation, scaling, grounding, shielding, and EMI mitigation.
  • Design wiring harnesses, instrumentation interfaces, schematics, test procedures, and calibration procedures.
  • Integrate instrumentation with mechanical, fluid, inert gas, and cryogenic systems and develop test setups for aerospace hardware.
  • Review test data for anomalies and trends, support automated testing with Software, and maintain test infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent hands-on test experience; 7+ years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
  • 3+ years of experience in instrumentation, controls, or test engineering, including signal conditioning and data acquisition systems.
  • Understanding of measurement uncertainty, sampling theory, filtering, noise, grounding, EMI, sensor selection, and sensor signal wiring.
  • Hands-on experience with pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, accelerometers, load cells, strain gauges, flowmeters, switches, valves, power supplies, and NI PXI, cDAQ, or cRIO systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced hardware environment, including outdoor testing and fabrication, and safely lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must meet applicable U.S. ITAR export-control requirements, including being a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Aerospace, propulsion testing, flight test, high-speed or transient data acquisition, cryogenic or high-temperature environment, or hazardous test operations experience.
  • Familiarity with LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python, DIAdem, Confluence, Jira, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • 3+ years of experience with CAD modeling, hardware testing, and fluid or mechanical system design.
