TL;DR
Environmental Test Systems Engineer (LabVIEW) (Aerospace Environmental Testing): Developing and operating environmental test instrumentation for avionics and hypersonic vehicle components with an accent on vibration, thermal, EMC, and data-acquisition testing. Focus on creating test plans, executing qualification tests, analyzing failures, and designing LabVIEW-based test systems for Talon vehicle programs.

Location: Onsite in Mojave, California, United States. Travel to offsite test houses may be required, estimated at less than 5%.

Base salary: $101,000–$146,500 for Level II; $120,500–$158,000 for Senior-level; $157,000–$206,000 for Staff-level.

What you will do

  • Create environmental test plans, procedures, and reports for internal and external requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate, schedule, and execute onsite and offsite environmental and functional tests.
  • Maintain and operate vibration tables, thermal chambers, and other environmental test equipment.
  • Design, integrate, and operate environmental test instrumentation systems.
  • Perform failure analysis and develop recovery plans for test failures.
  • Support validation of avionics and other components for hypersonic vehicle ground and flight-test programs.

Requirements

  • Degree in electrical engineering, software engineering, avionics, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Level II: 2–5 years of relevant experience; Senior: 5–10 years; Staff: 10–20 years.
  • Experience with environmental component-level testing, aircraft or launch-vehicle electrical-system integration, and test instrumentation design.
  • Ability to review electrical and mechanical schematics and communicate technical challenges to test stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of standards such as DO-160, MIL-STD-810, and MIL-STD-461.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance; U.S. work authorization may be required for restricted positions.

Nice to have

  • Environmental acceptance and qualification testing, EMC testing, RF component testing, and full data-acquisition lifecycle experience.
  • Experience with NI cRIO, cDAQ, Curtiss-Wright KAM-500, IADS, and digital test procedures.
  • Expertise with Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB, PowerShell, Git, JIRA, SolidWorks, CAD, Capital, or Zuken.
