Process Systems Engineering Co-op, Automation & Data Integration (Python)

Location: On-site in Squamish, BC, Canada. Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week. An 8-month or longer co-op term is expected, with a flexible start date and an expected start in September 2026. Relocation support includes four weeks of company-paid accommodation.

Salary: CAD 22–26 per hour.

What you will do

• Support the adoption, maintenance, migration, and continuous improvement of published data applications.
• Maintain process metrics, diagnostics, visualizations, and asset-based data models.
• Validate asset templates representing functional and logical attributes.
• Use plant simulations to test supervisory control strategies and their integration.
• Support the development and testing of soft-sensor systems combining historian data, process models, laboratory tests, and real-time instrumentation.
• Promote a positive safety culture and report and investigate unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, and near misses.

Requirements

• Completed second year of Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Electrical and Computer Engineering.
• Coursework or experience related to process automation and controls, industrial automation systems, relational databases, graphical user interfaces, or frontend development.
• Experience with technical computing and data analysis in Python.
• Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration, curiosity, adaptability, problem-solving, organization, and attention to detail.
• Availability for an on-site, 40-hour-per-week co-op in Squamish, BC, Canada for at least eight months.

Nice to have

• Experience with OSI-PI, Asset Framework, and PI Vision.
• Experience with Power BI, Matplotlib, Seaborn, Bokeh, or ParaView.
• Experience formulating SQL queries.
• Web application development experience with FastAPI, React, or Streamlit.
