Systems Engineer (Optical Sensors)

Salary: CAD 80,000–105,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead the integration of opto-mechanical subcomponents for new products.
• Define product requirements and characterization plans.
• Design and execute tests for optical sensor development projects.
• Design test equipment for evaluating subcomponents and completed products.
• Support mechanical design and prototyping of sensor platforms and test fixtures.
• Analyze and present test results, identify multidisciplinary system issues, and propose improvement plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Applied Physics, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field.
• At least 2 years of related experience.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary projects and validating requirements, risks, and solution pathways.
• Experience integrating and validating mechanical, optical, and electrical subcomponents for complex systems or instrumentation.
• Experience with SolidWorks and proficiency in data analysis and statistics.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, time-management, safety, and hands-on technical skills.

Nice to have

• Experience assembling benchtop optics.
• Knowledge of semiconductor process tooling.
• Experience with MATLAB, JMP, Minitab, Python, LabView, or other equipment-automation methods.
