Backend Data Engineer (AI)

Location: Must be based in or able to work from Hamburg or Berlin (Hybrid)

What you will do

• Design, build, and improve modeled data workflows in collaboration with analysts and engineers.
• Develop and maintain backend services, data pipelines, and AI-powered agents.
• Consolidate fragmented workflows and standalone tools into a centralized platform.
• Contribute to platform architecture, operational reliability, and workflow automation.
• Translate evolving business and research requirements into practical technical solutions.

Requirements

• Strong Python skills with experience in backend systems, data pipelines, or internal tooling.
• Hands-on experience developing AI-powered applications using LLMs and modern AI APIs.
• Solid understanding of SQL, databases, and data modeling concepts.
• Experience with Git and writing clean, maintainable code.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-evolving, cross-functional environment.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with workflow orchestration.
• Understanding of containerization and cloud environments (Docker, AWS).
