Flight Software Engineer (C++)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.

Salary: $131,000–$184,000 per year, plus potential stock options.

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing payloads, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.

What you will do

• Develop reliable flight software controlling spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules throughout their missions.
• Write structured bare-metal, RTOS, and Linux-based embedded software in C++.
• Own software design, testing, integration, verification, and validation.
• Capture requirements and perform initial design trades for open-ended technical problems.
• Collaborate with the flight software team to solve problems and maintain system quality and performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software.
• 3+ years of experience developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software.
• Strong C++ development experience and understanding of core language concepts.
• Experience with embedded or real-time systems and aerospace safety-critical software is beneficial.
• U.S. work authorization and U.S. person status are required for ITAR-controlled technology access.

Nice to have

• End-to-end experience building and launching a spacecraft.
• Experience with CCSDS telemetry and telecommand systems, F' or cFS frameworks.
• Experience with Python or Rust.
• Knowledge of analog and digital electronics, SPI, I2C, CAN, or EtherCAT.
