Workday HR & Payroll Functional Analyst (Workday)

What you will do

• Own and configure end-to-end Workday HCM and Payroll business processes across the hire-to-retire and pay lifecycle.
• Manage organization, supervisory, and position structures, including headcount governance and position restrictions.
• Configure approval routing, condition rules, validation rules, notifications, security roles, and permissions.
• Support compensation cycles, absence plans, benefits enrollment, ACA reporting, payroll processing, and pay calculation audits.
• Test and deploy system updates, perform payroll parallel testing, troubleshoot system issues, and support Workday’s biannual releases.
• Coordinate with HR, Payroll, IT, Finance, integration teams, and vendors while identifying process improvement and automation opportunities.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on Workday HCM experience with direct ownership of business process configuration.
• Production Workday Payroll experience, including parallel testing and pay calculation validation.
• Advanced, matrix, and composite reporting experience with calculated fields.
• Hands-on configuration experience across Core HCM, position management, compensation, absence, benefits, and role-based security.
• Experience with Workday security concepts, biannual release and regression cycles, EIBs, integration data validation, and data conversion.
• Workday HCM and Payroll certifications, higher education experience, and ACA or other HR compliance reporting experience.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting faculty, staff, adjunct, and student-worker populations and academic-calendar pay cycles.
• Exposure to ADP, applicant tracking systems, Okta, and ServiceNow.
• Experience with recruiting, onboarding, talent, and performance process optimization.
