Senior HRIS Engineer (Workday): Enhancing DDN’s HR technology ecosystem around Workday HCM through configuration, process design, integrations, automation, and embedded AI with an accent on core HCM, reporting, time and absence, payroll, benefits, and system security. Focus on translating HR requirements into supportable solutions, improving connectivity with internal and external applications, and driving post-go-live optimization in a multi-year modernization program.
Location: Madrid city centre office, Spain; hybrid working model

What you will do
- Lead engineering and product activities for the Workday HCM deployment, including configuration, testing, documentation, and ongoing enhancements.
- Support Workday capabilities across core HCM, time, absence, advanced compensation, payroll, and benefits.
- Partner with HR stakeholders to translate business needs into system designs, process improvements, and supportable solutions.
- Configure and maintain business processes, security, calculated fields, reports, dashboards, and data validations.
- Collaborate with integration and automation specialists to improve connectivity with internal and external applications, analytics, workflow automation, and embedded AI.
- Maintain operational discipline through documentation, ticket handling, sprint participation, and delivery tracking.
Requirements
- 4–7 years of experience in HRIS, HCM systems, or Workday-focused engineering or analyst roles.
- Practical experience with several Workday areas, including Core HCM, reporting, absence and time tracking, talent management, payroll, and benefits.
- Experience supporting system enhancements, implementations, or post-go-live optimization in a growth environment.
- Data-driven approach with the ability to use reporting and process insights to guide recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain system behavior and tradeoffs clearly.
- Ability to work from the Madrid city centre office under a hybrid model.
Nice to have
- Experience working in global or multi-country HR environments.
- Exposure to Peakon, LMS platforms, or HR integrations.
- Experience with automation, integrations, or AI-enabled workflow improvements.
- Exposure to Jira and modern generative AI models such as Claude and Gemini.
