Electrical Technician (Fusion Energy)

Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom; on-site

Salary: Up to £50,000 per year, dependent on skills and experience.

What you will do

• Assist with the design, layout, installation, and commissioning of control panels and control systems.
• Assemble, install, maintain, test, and commission electrical systems, panels, power supplies, and associated equipment.
• Perform fault finding and troubleshooting on control systems, mains-powered infrastructure, distribution boards, and final circuits.
• Install and maintain cable containment systems, including tray, conduit, and trunking, as well as data networks and related cabling.
• Respond to electrical breakdowns and emergency repairs across laboratory, workshop, and technical site environments.
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and contractors while maintaining safe work areas and ensuring tools and materials are available.

Requirements

• Electrical apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on training and experience.
• Safe working experience with low-voltage electrical systems, including testing and fault finding.
• Experience with control systems, control panels, or similar electrical assemblies.
• Ability to read and work from electrical drawings and schematics.
• Understanding of electrical health and safety principles and comfort with varied physical tasks in a practical environment.
• Proactive approach, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and ability to work with minimal supervision as part of a team.

Nice to have

• 18th Edition certification under BS 7671 and Inspection and Testing certification (2391).
• Experience in complex, non-standard, industrial, engineering, or R&D environments.
• MEWP, PASMA, PAT, EngTech, or other relevant certifications and professional registration.
