Robot Software QA/Test Engineer (Robotics)

Salary: $85,000–$115,000 per year, plus potential equity and benefits

What you will do

• Develop testing practices, improve software testability, and build automated tests with software engineers.
• Monitor a local fleet of test robots and run continuous manual and automated regression testing.
• Perform hands-on validation of software on physical robots, reproduce field issues, and evaluate end-to-end system performance.
• Triage failures, debug issues, and conduct root-cause analysis across robot and cloud components.
• Assist with robot setup, configuration, validation, and release readiness.
• Improve test tooling, pipelines, quality signals, and defect documentation.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of Linux systems and command-line tools.
• Competence scripting with Python or a similar language, with the ability to read and debug C++ and Python code.
• Experience testing robotics, autonomous systems, embedded devices, connected hardware, vehicles, or other complex physical products.
• Experience with gtest or similar testing frameworks, plus exposure to cloud infrastructure and CI/CD practices.
• Strong understanding of wired and wireless networking, including IPv4, NetworkManager, and WPA2 security.
• Methodical, detail-oriented, patient, and communicative when debugging, triaging, documenting, and resolving unknown problems.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
• Familiarity with ROS/ROS2 and related tools.
• Experience with autonomous robots, autonomous vehicles, embedded systems, distributed systems, or remote monitoring and diagnostic tools.
• Familiarity with statistics or data-science tools and methods.
