HIL Test / Automation Engineer (Robotics)

Location: San Francisco, CA, United States

Salary: $130,000–$170,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Own a core hardware-in-the-loop regression area and maintain reliable, continuous validation during the V6 development push.
• Develop HIL environments combining ECUs, sensors, motor controllers, and simulated dynamics for stress and fault-injection testing.
• Build automated test frameworks, reporting, dashboards, AI analysis, and CI jobs for HIL systems.
• Expand module self-tests, improve the related data pipeline, and own regression and smoke-test coverage.
• Integrate high-speed data acquisition and CAN, I2C, and Ethernet tracing for hardware and firmware diagnostics.
• Partner with robot software teams and hirify.global Health on simulation models and lead physical pick-and-pack testing.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Electrical, Computer, or Robotics Engineering.
• 1–3+ years of experience validating embedded systems, control software, or robotics firmware; HIL experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong Python skills and experience with Rust or C++ for automated testing and analysis.
• CI/CD experience, such as Jenkins, plus knowledge of digital and analog I/O.
• Understanding of robotics communications, including CAN, Ethernet, USB, and Serial.
• Experience with requirements traceability and defect management.

Nice to have

• MATLAB/Simulink experience.
