Senior Test Infrastructure Software Engineer (Python/HITL)

Location: On-site in Seattle, WA; travel to deployment sites required

hirify.global is a pre-revenue startup developing modular subsea geothermal power plants that convert undersea thermal resources into baseload power.

What you will do

• Design and build test infrastructure for component qualification through full integrated power plant validation.
• Architect hardware-in-the-loop and simulation environments for firmware and controls testing under realistic operating conditions and failure scenarios.
• Develop automated test execution, operator interfaces, data acquisition, visualization, storage, and analysis systems.
• Design and integrate electrical and industrial controls infrastructure, including DAQs, PLCs, VFDs, sensors, instrumentation, and communication networks.
• Partner with firmware, electrical, mechanical, controls, and systems engineers to create testing capabilities and scalable engineering standards.
• Help establish the test infrastructure organization, including interviewing and onboarding future engineers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience building software for hardware systems, automated testing, hardware-in-the-loop, industrial controls, robotics, aerospace, automotive, or other complex electromechanical products.
• Strong Python skills; experience with C, C++, Rust, or similar systems programming languages is preferred.
• Experience interfacing software with physical hardware, instrumentation, embedded systems, or industrial equipment.
• Hands-on laboratory experience with sensor wiring, electrical debugging, instrumentation integration, and test hardware bring-up.
• Ability to work on-site in Seattle and travel to deployment sites as required.

Nice to have

• Experience with HITL or SITL environments and embedded or controls simulation software.
• Experience with PLCs, DAQs, VFDs, National Instruments, Beckhoff, Siemens, or similar industrial automation platforms.
• Familiarity with EtherCAT, CAN, Modbus, OPC UA, or similar industrial communication protocols.
• Experience designing data acquisition and telemetry systems or internal engineering infrastructure.
• Background in aerospace, robotics, automotive, energy, defense, or other fast-paced hardware industries.
