Test Automation Engineer (Propulsion)

Location: Onsite in Redondo Beach, United States; occasional travel to the Mojave test site is required.

Salary: $105,000–$160,000 per year, plus potential stock options and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain automation software for propulsion test operations.
• Build near-real-time data acquisition, control systems, automated test sequences, and user-facing tools.
• Develop frameworks for setup, execution, and analysis of engine, valve, pressure-system, and other component tests.
• Collaborate with test operations and propulsion engineers throughout test concept, integration, execution, debugging, and improvement.
• Review and contribute well-tested code while diagnosing issues across software, hardware interfaces, and test infrastructure.
• Support new test-asset bring-up and onsite debugging at the Mojave test site during occasional travel.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• Experience developing user-facing applications involving networking, hardware control, and data acquisition.
• At least 2 years of proficiency with Python or another object-oriented programming language, including hands-on operation of the software.
• Knowledge of data acquisition, control principles, hardware-software integration, software best practices, and Git.
• Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an export license under applicable U.S. export regulations, including ITAR and EAR.

Nice to have

• Experience with propulsion systems development testing.
• LabVIEW certification such as CLAD, CLD, or CLA.
• Experience with real-time operating systems, deterministic control software, electrical systems, or core networking concepts including IP addressing, Ethernet, VLANs, and PTP.
• Master’s degree in electrical, software, mechanical, or aerospace engineering.
• Startup or agile development experience and demonstrated project ownership.
