Director, AI Transformation

Location: New York, NY; in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

Base salary: $285,000–$300,000 per year

What you will do

• Own the technical AI strategy, including agent architecture, tooling, data access patterns, and scalable infrastructure.
• Lead Staff Software Engineers and the Enablement team, setting hiring standards, technical practices, and operating models.
• Drive build-versus-buy decisions across the AI portfolio and evaluate vendors, configured tools, and custom solutions.
• Partner with the Data Platform team on warehouse architecture, data modeling, governance, and reliable AI access patterns.
• Establish reusable AI infrastructure for evals, prompt systems, agent frameworks, observability, and MCP servers.
• Partner with Security, Legal, IT, and business leaders to deliver responsible AI systems and communicate roadmaps to executives.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in software engineering, applied AI, platform engineering, or technical leadership, including significant engineering team leadership.
• Deep technical fluency in LLMs, agentic systems, retrieval, evals, prompt engineering, MCP, hosted models, open weights, and fine-tuning.
• Experience shipping production AI systems at scale and understanding their reliability, cost, and operational tradeoffs.
• Strong product, business, communication, and executive judgment, with experience driving cross-functional consensus.
• Demonstrated ability to hire excellent engineers, build effective teams, and lead in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
• Ability to work in the New York office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; visa sponsorship is available when required for work authorization.
