Engineering Manager, Core Platform & Services

Location: Remote within the United States

Base salary: $188,000–$235,000 in Zone 1 (San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City); $164,500–$205,500 in Zone 2 (all other U.S. locations), plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the roadmap and business case for core platform services, including document storage and delivery, email infrastructure, and authentication.
• Lead an engineering team of 8–12 people and potentially expand scope to a second team within 3–6 months.
• Partner with the VP of Architecture and Staff Engineers to define platform boundaries and architectural direction.
• Lead multi-quarter platform migrations and deprecation initiatives across downstream engineering teams.
• Anticipate platform bottlenecks and improve developer velocity, reliability, and feature delivery costs.
• Use AI for dependency mapping, requirement shaping, code analysis, service development, and migration acceleration.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience in distributed systems, API design, event-driven architecture, or shared platform services.
• 4+ years managing engineering teams in platform, infrastructure, or core services environments.
• Experience leading complex multi-team migrations or platform deprecation programs.
• Strong technical literacy in API design, schema management, service boundaries, and event-driven architecture.
• Experience building business cases for foundational platform investments.
• Mid-to-late-stage B2B SaaS experience is strongly preferred, especially through a monolith-to-services transition.
