Engineering Manager (AI Platform)

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid with in-person work required at least 3–4 days per week

Salary: $220,000–$300,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Lead and manage the Platform & Infrastructure engineering team while setting clear output, productivity, velocity, and quality expectations.
• Build reliable infrastructure foundations, self-service tooling, sensible guardrails, and developer environments for engineering teams.
• Contribute technically through coaching, coding-agent-assisted development, smaller projects, bug fixes, and improvements to the agent environment.
• Drive the team's agentic engineering transformation by identifying manual work, bottlenecks, and roadblocks.
• Improve shared infrastructure, tooling, build systems, performance, reliability, security, and developer productivity across the engineering organization.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and other partner functions while building a healthy, high-performing team culture.

Requirements

• 8+ years of individual-contributor software engineering experience on fast-paced, high-performance teams.
• 4+ years of direct team management experience.
• Strong background in backend engineering, systems, platform/infrastructure, or performance.
• Deep technical ability and experience building with coding agents.
• Ability to drive velocity, maintain a high quality bar, and provide direct performance feedback.
• Willingness to work in person in San Francisco at least 3–4 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-native products and systems.
• Track record of leading organization-wide developer productivity or tooling initiatives.
