Location: Idaho Falls, Idaho, or remote within the United States. Remote employees must travel to headquarters in Santa Clara, California, twice per quarter based on business or team needs.
Salary: $100,000β$150,000 annually.

What you will do
- Develop and own mechanical equipment and component designs for fuel fabrication facilities.
- Translate functional and facility requirements into robust 3D CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and bills of materials.
- Coordinate with analysis teams on thermal, structural, fatigue, and safety analyses to validate designs.
- Lead design reviews and evaluate designs for deficiencies, manufacturability, tolerances, fabrication, and assembly.
- Collaborate with vendors, fabrication partners, consultants, and engineering firms to mature designs and support production.
- Improve mechanical design processes, tools, standards, and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5β10 years of experience, including 4+ years in mechanical or structural design within aerospace, automotive, energy, or industrial equipment.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, including parts, large assemblies, and detailed drawings, with experience using PDM/PLM version control tools.
- Strong knowledge of DFM, DFA, tolerance stack-up analysis, material selection, manufacturing methods, and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to produce and interpret engineering drawings using GD&T in line with ASME Y14.5 or similar standards.
- Remote employees must be able to travel to Santa Clara headquarters twice per quarter.
Nice to have
- Experience with large structural weldments, mechanical joints, and large-scale fabrication.
- Experience with high-integrity or safety-critical systems in nuclear, aerospace, defense, or heavy industry.
- Experience leading hardware projects from concept and design through testing and production.
- Knowledge of thermal-mechanical analysis, high-temperature design, nuclear fission, or radiation effects on materials.
- Exposure to ANSYS or Python.
