Mechanical Engineer (Fusion Energy)

Salary: $85,000–$150,000 per year

hirify.global is developing stellarator-based fusion systems using computer-controlled arrays of planar coils to simplify the commercialization of fusion energy.

What you will do

• Design and develop primary and secondary mechanical fusion components and subsystems.
• Produce engineering designs, drawings, specifications, parameters, and appropriate tolerances for vendor quoting and manufacturing.
• Design assembly tooling and support tooling implementation, manufacturing, and first builds.
• Perform thermal, structural, and electromagnetic analysis and simulation using Ansys and COMSOL.
• Incorporate design-for-manufacturing principles and specify machining, welding, and fabrication requirements.
• Design and execute qualification testing while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or a related field.
• Experience designing, building, and commissioning custom systems.
• Experience using mechanical engineering CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or NX.
• Familiarity with GD&T, ASME Y14.5, and drawing standards.
• Ability to decompose and solve complex problems, take initiative, and guide component and system design and analysis.
• Clear communication, collaboration skills, and the ability to work to aggressive deadlines in a rapidly changing environment.
