Director of Engineering (AI)

Location: San Mateo, California, United States; hybrid schedule with office days on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for geo-hub employees.

What you will do

• Lead a team of 10+ engineers developing and scaling AI-powered dental revenue cycle management products.
• Build and scale engineering teams across global locations while driving key product initiatives.
• Align engineering, product, and architecture teams around business goals and long-term roadmaps.
• Define engineering best practices, technical standards, architectural vision, and operational processes.
• Lead organizational planning, capacity forecasting, hiring, and engineering operations.
• Contribute to the codebase and participate in architectural reviews to maintain technical credibility.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience and 5+ years of management experience.
• Success building and scaling engineering organizations of 8+ people across multiple teams.
• Experience building 0-to-1 products, scaling mature platforms, and implementing LLM-based products in production.
• Hands-on full-stack development experience with front-end and back-end technologies, software architecture, and design patterns.
• Strong knowledge of SaaS architecture, cloud infrastructure such as Google Cloud or AWS, and CI/CD.
• Familiarity with Java, Python, JavaScript, Docker, Kubernetes, RESTful APIs, and Infrastructure as Code.
