Backend Software Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Seattle, WA, USA; hybrid

Salary: $142,000–$265,000 annual base compensation plus equity

What you will do

• Own and optimize the scalable backend platform supporting real-time drone services.
• Ensure platform security, reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Build platform infrastructure, cloud tooling, and backend services from infrastructure through the API layer.
• Prototype new solutions for customers and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with hardware and autonomy teams on streaming and displaying live drone data in multiple formats.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in computer science or a related field.
• At least 1 year of experience shipping high-quality code and building robust infrastructure.
• Experience building backend platforms, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and scalable software systems.
• Experience with modern cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and the ability to work across software engineering and cloud DevOps.
• Familiarity with serverless architecture and performance-versus-cost tradeoffs at scale.
• Strong attention to scalability, performance, security, independent work, and cross-functional communication.

Nice to have

• Experience in the drone or robotics industry.
• Familiarity with machine learning, computer vision, or AI technologies.
• Experience with real-time systems or embedded software development.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
