Senior Counsel - Employment and Labor Law

Location: Hybrid in New York, NY, with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote

Salary: $200,000–$235,000 USD gross annual base pay, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Advise the CHRO, General Counsel, executives, senior business leaders, and Board on employment, labor, workforce risk, litigation trends, and regulatory developments.
• Manage employment litigation, arbitration, administrative proceedings, workplace investigations, sensitive terminations, reductions in force, and executive separations.
• Build and maintain global employment policies, handbooks, codes of conduct, compliance calendars, and audit programs.
• Advise on wage-and-hour compliance, leave and accommodation obligations, worker classification, pay transparency, pay equity, labor relations, union activity, and works councils.
• Support immigration counsel, visa sponsorship, global mobility, cross-border hiring, M&A, market expansion, and organizational restructuring.
• Partner with HR, Finance, Total Rewards, Communications, Compliance, and People Operations on workforce governance, disclosures, training, and HRIS implementation.

Requirements

• J.D. and active bar membership in good standing; California or New York bar admission is strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of employment and labor law experience, including significant law-firm and in-house experience.
• Experience leading an employment law function or team, managing outside counsel, and overseeing litigation portfolios.
• Deep expertise in wage-and-hour, discrimination and harassment, leave and accommodation, labor relations, and workforce classification matters.
• Working knowledge of international employment frameworks, especially in the EU and UK, and experience advising a public company or preparing one for public-company standards.
• Strong judgment, communication, discretion, cross-functional collaboration, and willingness to handle complex investigations personally.

• Experience in a technology company, marketplace, or global consumer business.
• Additional state bar admission.
• Experience building employment policies, training programs, and compliance infrastructure from the ground up.
• Experience with pay equity and pay transparency compliance.
