Senior Employment Counsel

Location: New York, NY; onsite work required, remote work is not considered.

Salary: $176,000–$264,000 USD per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Manage compliance with state and federal employment laws, including requirements related to leave, pay, benefits, timekeeping, discrimination, and harassment.
• Partner with HR and cross-functional teams to develop employment policies and procedures covering accommodations, leaves of absence, onboarding, and drug and alcohol programs.
• Audit compliance programs, policies, and procedures and track corrective-action implementation.
• Advise on employment separations, job classifications, background checks, recruiting, benefits compliance, and related contracts.
• Prepare OFCCP compliance reports and similar regulatory filings.
• Draft and update the Employee Handbook, develop legal training, and advise HR and management on changes in labor, employment, and benefits law.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• At least 10 years of employment-law experience.
• Admission to and good standing with the bar in at least one U.S. state.
• Ability to work onsite in New York, NY; remote work is not considered.
• Must meet U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations.
• Ability to travel up to 10% and work extended hours or weekends as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with a major law firm or corporation and an excellent academic record at a top-tier law school.
• Experience with affirmative action plan preparation or OFCCP compliance evaluations.
• Experience advising significant domestic manufacturing or international operations.
• Experience with California employment law and legal training for business teams.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, prioritization, and solution-oriented thinking skills.
