Salary: Senior $140,000–$180,000 per year plus equity; Principal $160,000–$200,000 per year plus equity. Compensation scales with experience.

What you will do

  • Own mechanical architectures, systems, subsystems, and components from requirements through deployment.
  • Develop critical Rover platform systems, including electromechanical actuators, structures, passive mechanisms, thermal control systems, and autonomy hardware integration.
  • Conduct trade studies and first-order calculations to define system requirements.
  • Define qualification testing criteria according to spaceflight testing standards.
  • Validate subsystems and components in simulated launch and lunar environments.
  • Work cross-functionally with electrical, thermal, and software teams to meet integration timelines and system milestones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience developing hardware systems for space applications.
  • Experience with CAD tools such as NX, CATIA, or SolidWorks and analysis tools such as ANSYS or ABAQUS.
  • Working knowledge of engineering materials, manufacturing processes, and structural analysis.
  • Strong technical communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Must meet U.S. Government export-control eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience developing space hardware.
  • Experience owning spaceflight hardware across design, analysis, qualification, and operation.
  • Expertise in space-grade rotary actuators, space mechanisms, rigid-body dynamics, vibration analysis, or environmental qualification campaigns.
