Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: On-site at the New York City office; applicants must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents.

Salary: $145,000–$230,000 per year plus equity.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain the AI Workflow Orchestration platform.
• Build scalable, high-performing backend software solutions.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions with product managers, designers, and engineers.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases, embeddings, and data storage systems.
• Design and operate containerized services using Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms.
• Apply version control, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.

Requirements

• 6+ years of backend software development experience.
• High proficiency in Java.
• Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases, embeddings, and data storage solutions.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and at least one cloud platform such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Experience with Git, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• U.S. citizenship, nationality, or lawful permanent residency is required.

Nice to have

• Python experience.
• Experience with AI/ML tools and products.
