Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid

Salary: $160,000–$300,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Collaborate with the CTO and CEO on strategic technical decisions and product direction.
• Design, develop, and optimize backend services, APIs, and real-time data processing infrastructure.
• Implement and refine the in-house large language model and real-time interview technology.
• Lead projects from conception through production deployment, ensuring scalability and reliability.
• Work directly with users to gather feedback and improve the core product.

Requirements

• 3+ years of software engineering experience building production-grade backend systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python and Django, including robust API development.
• Extensive knowledge of SQL databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Experience deploying and managing services on AWS.
• Ability to work in a hybrid role based in San Francisco.

Nice to have

• Experience with WebRTC, real-time data streaming, or AI/ML infrastructure.
