Community Engagement Manager (Data Centres)

Location: Alberta, Canada; willing candidates may relocate to Alberta. The role is remote-friendly within Canada, with an expectation that staff spend at least 25% of their time in an office. Regular regional travel of up to 50% is required, with occasional travel to other data centre markets.

What you will do

• Build sustained relationships with municipal and provincial governments, community organizations, economic development groups, educational institutions, and workforce partners.
• Develop and execute community engagement strategies across data centre site selection, pre-development, construction, and operations.
• Host education and listening sessions, build external coalitions, and design solutions that deliver local community benefits.
• Represent Anthropic at public forums, town halls, planning hearings, community events, and local media engagements.
• Monitor community sentiment and political dynamics, advising internal teams on risks, opportunities, and engagement strategy.
• Coordinate community investment, charitable giving, economic development commitments, and nonprofit partnerships while building a scalable engagement playbook.

Requirements

• Experience in community affairs, public affairs, economic development, government relations, municipal or provincial government, or a related field.
• Direct experience engaging municipal councils and administrations and provincial governments on large infrastructure, construction, energy, or technology projects.
• Strong relationship-building, coalition-building, written communication, verbal communication, and public representation skills.
• Ability to explain complex operational plans in clear language and manage multiple engagements independently.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and experience in a relevant field.
• Based in Alberta, Canada or willing to relocate there, with regular regional travel required.

Nice to have

• 7+ years of community engagement experience on data centre, utility, energy, or large-scale industrial infrastructure projects, or in local government.
• Familiarity with municipal and provincial land use, zoning, and development permitting.
• Experience managing corporate social responsibility programs.
• Established relationships with economic development, workforce, or civic organizations.
• Experience working concurrently with real estate, legal, communications, and policy teams.
