Sr Accountant (Fintech)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States. Hybrid work model with in-office attendance required on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays; remote placement is not considered. Local Pacific Time hours are required, with flexibility across time zones when necessary. Relocation is offered based on the actual job level.

Salary: $88,000–$103,000 annual base salary, with potential eligibility for equity and an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Prepare and post journal entries and support monthly and quarterly close activities.
• Complete reconciliations across cash, loans, and reserves, resolving discrepancies.
• Maintain the general ledger in line with accounting policies and internal controls.
• Support balance sheet and income statement analysis and flag variances.
• Use AI tools for reconciliations, research, and reporting while validating outputs.
• Support internal and external audits, collaborate with Finance, Credit, and Operations, and improve recurring reconciliation and reporting processes.

Requirements

• 2+ years of accounting experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Precision and strong follow-through in recurring, high-volume accounting work.
• Practical experience using AI tools and sound judgment about when to trust their outputs.
• Clear communication and willingness to ask questions and incorporate feedback.
• Ability to work in San Francisco with required in-office attendance and local Pacific Time hours.

Nice to have

• Exposure to ERP systems such as Oracle Fusion.
• CPA candidacy.
• Experience in financial services, fintech, or another regulated environment.
