Senior Elastic Engineer (Elasticsearch)

Salary: $138,600–$183,200 USD annually, plus bonus plans

What you will do

• Design, deploy, maintain, scale, and upgrade highly available Elasticsearch clusters.
• Develop indexing strategies, mappings, analyzers, tokenizers, and ingest pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
• Optimize query execution, relevance scoring, shard and replica management, JVM heap usage, and cluster performance.
• Configure and operate Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Beats, and Elastic Agent for logs, metrics, dashboards, and visualizations.
• Implement ILM, snapshots, backups, disaster recovery, RBAC, TLS, authentication, and Elastic Security controls.
• Automate deployments with Terraform, Ansible, Helm, or similar tools; integrate APIs with applications and support incidents through root cause analysis.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, cybersecurity, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least one DoD-approved 8570 baseline certification at IAT Level II or higher for applicable DoD professional services roles.
• Deep experience with Elasticsearch architecture, cluster administration, indexing, query optimization, observability, and production troubleshooting.
• Ability to obtain the work authorizations required under U.S. ITAR or EAR regulations.
• Must have the right to work in the United States; certain roles may require U.S. Person status.

Nice to have

• Experience with dense vectors, embeddings, hybrid ranking, Elasticsearch Relevance Engine, or learning-to-rank systems.
• Experience with Elastic Cloud, ECE/ESS, Kubernetes operators, or AWS-managed deployments.
• Knowledge of cross-cluster replication, cross-cluster search, and custom Painless scripting.
