TL;DR
Mechanical Engineer (Loads and Dynamics) (Aerospace): Developing and validating loads, vibration, shock, and dynamic-environment solutions for spacecraft and deployable space structures with an accent on finite element modeling, hands-on environmental testing, and model correlation. Focus on processing test data, building analysis automation tools, and solving structural risks across launch, deployment, and on-orbit operations.

Location: Redmond, WA, United States. The role requires U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, or eligibility for authorization under U.S. export regulations.

Annual salary: $105,000–$140,000 for L1, $140,000–$190,000 for L2, and $170,000–$215,000 for L3.

Company

hirify.global is developing space-based data centers that scale from kilowatts to gigawatt capacity.

What you will do

  • Resolve spacecraft dynamics problems through analysis, testing, and model correlation.
  • Develop and maintain finite element models for spacecraft structures, mechanisms, deployable solar arrays, radiators, and related hardware.
  • Analyze vibration, shock, acoustic, transient, modal, and forcing-function environments across transportation, launch, deployment, and on-orbit operations.
  • Own dynamic testing from pre-test analysis and instrumentation through execution, data processing, reporting, and design recommendations.
  • Define qualification and acceptance testing for flight hardware and correlate test results with analytical models.
  • Build analysis scripts, pipelines, databases, and internal tools while collaborating with mechanical, structures, manufacturing, integration, and test teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience in dynamics, structural analysis, mechanical testing, or hands-on aerospace hardware development.
  • Experience analyzing test data, building hardware, or supporting mechanical qualification of flight or launch vehicle systems.
  • Strong fundamentals in vibrations, structural dynamics, mechanics, and frequency-domain analysis.
  • Experience with finite element modeling or structural analysis tools.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for authorization under U.S. export regulations.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with vibration, modal, acoustic, or shock testing and with Ansys, NX, or similar tools.
  • Experience building, correlating, and validating finite element models.
  • Experience with spacecraft, launch vehicles, satellites, deployable structures, solar arrays, radiators, or spacecraft mechanisms.
  • Software skills for analysis automation, data processing, signal processing, or internal tool development.

Culture & Benefits

  • Stock options, discretionary bonuses, and other long-term incentives.
  • Medical, vision, and dental coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
  • Short- and long-term disability insurance and life insurance.
  • Paid parental leave, vacation, holidays, and sick leave.
  • Extended hours and weekends may be required to support critical project milestones.
