TL;DR
Hardware Engineering Intern (Robotics) (3D CAD/Wire Harnesses): Developing and integrating wire harnesses for industrial robots with an accent on system-level routing, engineering drawings, and hands-on electromechanical assembly. Focus on translating schematics into physical harness architecture, validating prototypes through continuity and pinout testing, and resolving fit, clearance, and serviceability issues in robot assemblies.

Location: Palo Alto, United States; on-site

Company

hirify.global is building Physical AI systems for real-world industrial deployment, beginning with factory-floor robots.

What you will do

  • Model and maintain 3D wire harness routing in 3DEXPERIENCE/CATIA within system-level robot assemblies.
  • Create 2D harness drawings, flattened formboard layouts, wire run lists, connector tables, and detail views.
  • Select harness components and maintain associated bills of materials.
  • Translate electrical schematics and pinout tables into physical harness architecture with electrical engineering.
  • Build, install, and test prototype harnesses, then update models and drawings based on interference, slack, and tool-access findings.
  • Prepare DFM/RFQ documentation for suppliers and contract manufacturers and maintain revision-controlled PLM releases.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related program.
  • Working proficiency in assembly-level 3D CAD; experience with SolidWorks, Creo, or NX can transfer to 3DEXPERIENCE/CATIA.
  • Ability to read and produce engineering drawings, with working knowledge of GD&T and dimensioning conventions.
  • Comfort reading electrical schematics, block diagrams, and pinout tables.
  • Hands-on experience with soldering, crimping, and electromechanical assembly through projects such as FSAE, Baja, robotics, rocketry, UAV, or serious personal builds.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work through ambiguity with engineering curiosity.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work directly alongside senior hardware engineers as an active contributor.
  • Own high-visibility roadmap components with clear milestones.
  • Gain hands-on experience solving physical systems problems and see work integrated into robots.
  • Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
