Senior Design Engineer (Robotics)

Location: On-site in the Carson, California office; Los Angeles, California

Salary: $135,000–$250,000 per year, plus equity and bonus

What you will do

• Design robotic hardware, mechanisms, system architectures, and end-of-arm tooling for performance and reliability.
• Perform finite element analysis, thermal simulations, structural analysis, and design validation before fabrication.
• Prototype hardware using 3D printers, CNC machines, machining, welding, sheet metal, and other fabrication methods.
• Integrate motors, sensors, cabling, electrical components, and pneumatic hardware with Electrical and Software teams.
• Lead troubleshooting, root cause investigations, risk assessments, corrective actions, and safety compliance for deployed systems.
• Manage mechanical product lifecycles, BOMs, vendors, validation strategies, cost reduction, and mentorship of junior engineers.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience with CAD, 3D solid modeling, analysis, hands-on prototyping, fabrication, or design for 3D printing.
• Experience creating 2D manufacturing drawings and applying GD&T, tolerance analysis, Design for Manufacturing, and Design for Assembly.
• Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and materials, including manual and CNC machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, and plastic prototyping.
• Ability to conduct RCCAs and trade studies, solve problems collaboratively, and communicate effectively across teams and customers.
• Ability and willingness to work on-site in Carson, California.

Nice to have

• 8+ years of experience with SolidWorks.
• Experience with industrial robots and six-degree-of-freedom robotic arms.
• Experience with project management, product deployment, and industrial facilities or equipment.
• Experience with machining, rapid prototyping, and fabrication processes and materials.
