Mechanical Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Menlo Park, California, United States; on-site

Base salary: $120,000–$200,000 per annum, plus equity eligibility and benefits.

What you will do

• Design mechanical parts and sub-assemblies and carry them from concept through mass production.
• Build prototypes, run component-level performance and durability tests, and iterate on designs.
• Write and execute accelerated test plans to predict field behavior.
• Release production-ready 2D drawings and work with vendors and contract manufacturers on DFM, tooling reviews, and first article inspection.
• Collaborate with electrical engineering, firmware, software, and industrial design to balance mechanical parts within the complete system.
• Debug field failures, investigate root causes, and improve designs through production and reliability feedback.

Requirements

• Technical degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Approximately 2+ years of professional mechanical design experience, or equivalent demonstrated capability.
• Personal experience designing parts currently in production.
• Practical expertise in at least one high-volume process, such as injection molding, die casting, stamping, or metal injection molding.
• Experience with tolerance stack-ups, datum schemes, GD&T, SolidWorks, PDM/PLM, ECOs, quality systems, and FEA.
• Comfort working hands-on in a fast-paced hardware startup, including prototyping, supplier coordination, testing, documentation, and production debugging.
