Mechanical Engineer (Robotics)

Develops autonomous trucking platforms.

What you will do

• Design, prototype, and validate mechanical systems and components for autonomous trucking platforms.
• Create CAD models and engineering drawings for fabrication and assembly.
• Build, modify, and test hardware using shop tools and rapid prototyping methods.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, and systems engineers to integrate sensors, compute hardware, and vehicle subsystems.
• Conduct root cause analysis, implement design improvements, and execute bench- and vehicle-level test plans.
• Manage parts sourcing, fabrication vendors, assembly processes, rapid iteration cycles, and field deployments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 2+ years of relevant industry or internship experience.
• Hands-on experience with manual mills and lathes, laser cutters, drills, grinders, and other power tools.
• Proficiency in CAD, preferably SolidWorks, with familiarity with GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, DFM, and DFA.
• Ability to independently build and test prototypes, with familiarity with sheet metal, machining, 3D printing, and CNC methods.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and comfort working in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with large vehicles or autonomous vehicles.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems and sensor integration.
• Experience with PLM/PDM systems, FEA, simulation tools, field testing, or deployments.
• Startup or small-team experience.
